Andrew Brimblecombe - Estate Manager
Andrew began working at Gidleigh Park in 1995 as one of the gardening team, and in 2001 was promoted to Estate Manager.
Andrew has seen the estate grow over the years from approximately 47 to 107 acres as additional land was acquired, taking in more of the North Teign River, which runs through the estate in front of the house.
There have been many developments within the grounds during Andrew’s time at Gidleigh Park, including the introduction of additional walks along the river banks, through the bluebell wood and the woodland itself. Andrew oversees the entire estate management but focuses primordially on the maintaining the water gardens, lawns and woodland. Within the estate there is a large terraced herb garden, which supplies the kitchen with fresh herbs, fruit and vegetables. There are also a number of flowerbeds, all of which are looked after by our assistant head gardener. Leaving the 18-hole putting course, two croquet lawns, tennis court and a bowls green, plus the terraces, hanging baskets and footpaths to be maintained by two further members of the team.
Andrew enjoys meeting guests of Gidleigh Park when they are out enjoying the grounds. “Nothing gives me more pleasure than exchanging gardening hints and tips with like-minded guests. I enjoy being a part of the developing estate and grounds, seeing it mature, clearing overgrown forgotten corners of the property and watching nature and the wildlife within the grounds flourish.”
